# Support – CC London Alerts

Last updated: 17 October 2026

## How to get help

This summary is for convenience only. The full text below applies.

- Email [hello@brilllabs.com](mailto:hello@brilllabs.com). Say whether you use an iPhone or an Android phone, and what you expected the app to do.
- Set the app up before you drive, while parked. Allow location, including in the background, and notifications.
- Alerts can be late, quiet or missing if the phone limits background location, battery use or sounds. Always follow road signs.
- Refunds go through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not see your payment.
- Your location stays on your phone. The app does not pay the Congestion Charge or ULEZ for you.

## 1. Contact

1.1 Email [hello@brilllabs.com](mailto:hello@brilllabs.com). Please say whether you use an iPhone or an Android phone, and what you expected to happen. If the app crashed, you can attach a crash report (see section 6). We will use what you send only to answer you or to fix the fault.

1.2 We have no accounts, so we cannot look up a journey, a location or a purchase. Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

1.3 CC London Alerts is provided by Brilllabs ([www.brilllabs.com](https://www.brilllabs.com)). We are not Transport for London (TfL) and are not affiliated with it.

## 2. Before you drive

2.1 Set the app up while you are safely and lawfully parked, with the engine off. Do not pick up, hold or look at your phone while driving. Using a hand-held mobile phone while driving is a criminal offence in the UK.

2.2 Turn on background monitoring from the Map tab or Settings. Allow location and notifications, or the app cannot warn you. Alerts are sounds, vibrations and notifications. On Android you can also turn on a banner over other apps. On iPhone, if you turn Live Activities on, a card can show on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island.

- On iPhone, set Location to Always, with Precise Location on. Low Power Mode, Background App Refresh, the silent switch and Focus can stop or quiet alerts. While monitoring runs in the background, iPhone shows its blue location indicator.
- On Android, allow location all the time. While monitoring is on, Android shows a small ongoing notification. Battery settings can stop background monitoring, and the app shows a warning when this happens.

2.3 You can keep Google Maps, Waze or another app in front. The app is meant to keep alerting in the background. That depends on your phone settings, battery level and the permissions you have granted.

## 3. If an alert does not sound

3.1 Check section 2 first: background monitoring on, location allowed in the background, and notifications allowed.

3.2 The phone can still delay or block an alert. Battery saving, a lost GPS signal, tunnels, tall buildings and operating-system limits can all do this. The app shows a warning when it can tell.

3.3 Alerts follow the charging hours in the app, which are meant to match the official TfL rules. Outside those hours the app stays quiet. You can set the Congestion Charge Zone and ULEZ separately, including how early you want to be warned.

3.4 An alert can be late, early, wrong or missing. Always follow road signs, road markings and traffic signals. Official information from TfL takes priority over anything in the app.

## 4. The map

4.1 On iPhone the street map is Apple Maps. There is no map download. In Settings > Map data you can choose Zone outline only, which draws the zone without a street map and makes no network requests for the map.

4.2 On Android the street map uses OpenFreeMap, built on OpenStreetMap data. In Settings > Map data you can choose Download London for offline use (about 70 MB, best on Wi-Fi). The download is a fixed area of London, the same for every user, and afterwards the map makes no network requests. Deleting the download frees the space.

4.3 Map when you are away from the zones is in Settings, off by default, and offered only while you are in or near the UK.

## 5. Payments and refunds

5.1 The app is a one-off purchase. The price is shown in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store before you buy. Payments are processed by that store. We do not receive or store your payment details.

5.2 Any refund is handled by the store that charged you, under that store's own policy. This does not affect your statutory rights.

## 6. Privacy and crash reports

6.1 Your location is checked on your phone and is not sent to us. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Read the [iPhone privacy policy](https://cclondonalerts.brilllabs.com/privacy/iphone) or the [Android privacy policy](https://cclondonalerts.brilllabs.com/privacy/android).

6.2 The app keeps crash records on the phone. Download crash report is on the hidden Diagnostics screen. Your phone's share sheet opens and you choose where the report goes, for example an email to [hello@brilllabs.com](mailto:hello@brilllabs.com). The report contains no location, and it is sent only if you choose to send it.

6.3 If you send us an email or a crash report, we hold it only to deal with your message. You can ask us to see it or delete it by writing to [hello@brilllabs.com](mailto:hello@brilllabs.com). We will reply within one month.

## 7. We are not TfL

7.1 The app does not pay the Congestion Charge or ULEZ, and it does not check whether your vehicle is compliant or exempt. You are responsible for any charge, Penalty Charge Notice or other penalty.

7.2 Zone boundaries, hours, charges and rules are set by the authorities and can change. Check the official pages before you rely on the app: Congestion Charge at [tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge](https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge) and ULEZ at [tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone](https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone).

7.3 Read the [terms and conditions](https://cclondonalerts.brilllabs.com/terms), which are part of using the app.
